This isn’t a beauty contest, nor a pay for play (I NEVER accept that, nor play that game, nor do I accept any referral fees or whatever some vendors offer for recommending them). Q : I am curious on why Cornerstone On Demand, Saba and SumTotal do not appear in your top twenty lists even though they appear on other sites as the best products in the market. My latest take on those three vendors (plus one) are: Cornerstone On Demand – I have seen the new UI and I like what I saw. Saba - A solid system, but IMO (in my opinion) better suited for talent/performance management. Q: We use WebEx as our web conferencing tool.

Across the board, a large number of vendors (from small to large) saw increases in their quarter numbers. Especially, when vendors released their 2010 final numbers and saw big increases from the previous year. One vendor is months behind their release schedule. Another vendor is suffering Q/A issues. Identify the problem, the vendor too.

With all these vendors talking about their solution and its capabilities on mobile devices, it should be easy to find an app for that. Regardless if the vendor is m-learning specific, content authoring tool, LMS, web conferencing or a hybrid. Nowadays more and more vendors (thankfully) are seeing the benefit of mobile devices. Please remember for TM or as some vendors like to pitch as “performance management or knowledge management&# , the modules are extra and are not part of the system (at least for now). Vendors who are my clients are aware, prior for me working with them, that there is no quid pro quo, nor any special treatment given to them on my blog.

What I like about conferences is the ability to see the latest products and hear the pitches from the vendors. Yet, for all that do it, their are equal number of vendors who do not. Vendors who do not have anyone in their booth, during expo times – I see this at all shows, regardless of the product or market; but at e-learning/training shows you see it a lot OR you see them eating in their booth. People always inquire why I like one system over the next, and how their system (if they are a vendor) is not on the list or if a customer, how the system they purchased is not on the list. And is one that is often overlooked when folks are considering a vendor. I hear the “they never called us back,” “they promised and never delivered,” and the “they ignore us”, and yet, I equally have heard folks say that, then renew with the same vendor.

Vendors saying “have you looked at XYZ” (which is their system). plus all the vendors will be found in FindAnLMS), I do have systems I can recommend based on various criteria. Folks seem fine with the vendor noting how awesome their support is, without extracting any metrics or verifiable data. . And I ask it often when talking to vendors. I have asked vendors to complete a Support Card , and many have. Saba the same thing.

I mention this because there are vendors who continue to push towards adding performance management functionality to their learning system, with many people assuming these vendors to be, LMS vendors when it just isn’t universally true. I love forecasts.

Rather than go into a whole diatribe about CMI-5, I recommend you read this info on CMI-5 (put together in part from vendor RISC). Thus by saying Tin Can repeatedly, I was doing you an injustice, since in essence I was putting out a brand name by one vendor. But on the other side, so were (and currently are) many vendors in the entire e-learning industry, and they have the right to do so. In 2015, I do expect to see an increase in the number of vendors implementing xAPI.

Although after talking to several vendors, irritation seemed to be a part of their response to me. Estimate 55% e-learning related content, including e-learning vendors and ILT vendors who added a “virtual training” component as part of their offerings. To me, many more LMS vendors than in the past, especially some newbies I’ve never seen attend the show. Great to see Saba attend the event. Expo vendor pick up in terms of leads and traffic.

This year, I estimated a 55/60% e-learning, including some ILT vendors offering some type of e-learning component. .
