Tony Karrer

ASTD TechKnowledge 2009 is coming to Las Vegas in January. methods to see examples of where and how tools such as social networks, social bookmarking, wikis, blogs, and RSS readers fit into day-to-day knowledge work and larger learning solutions. Personal, collaborative, and informal learning methods are emerging that leverage tools such as blogs, wikis, social bookmarking, and RSS readers.

TechKnowledge in Las Vegas

Tony Karrer

I'll be doing several sessions at TechKnowledge in Las Vegas at the end of January. The sessions are on the use of Blogs and Social Bookmarking as part of Personal and Group Learning. If you are going to the conference, let me know. It's always nice to meet in person. I just saw a post by Jay Cross that discusses possible discounts to TK2007 hotels

ASTD TechKnowledge 2007 - Opening Sessions

Tony Karrer

I'm at the opening session at ASTD TechKnowledge ( [link] ). I'll soon be doing a session on Blogging and Social Bookmarking for Personal and Group Learning. Tony Bingham, President of ASTD, is doing his introduction, and his content is: Web 2.0, personal learning, easy distribution of software (software as a service), video is here now, push to pull, teaching Gen Y (what he calls the netGeneration). What a great setup for my presentation. Thanks Tony.

Conference Session Breakout

Tony Karrer

I'm trying to get them to think about the question "How might you use Blogs, Wikis, Social Bookmarking, Social Networking, Collaboration Tools in your organization?" I was pulling together my slides for ASTD TechKnowledge and had planned to do a small group breakout and then have each group contribute to the larger group. Update: 12/19/2007. There has been great discussion in the comments. I wanted to provide a bit more context for this.

First Thoughts After ASTD Sessions

Tony Karrer

I'm on the flight back from ASTD TechKnowledge and thought I should try to capture some initial thoughts from the conference and sessions while it was still fresh and before life clouds my memory. Almost no one was familiar with social bookmarking. Oh, and I just saw that Kevin Jones posted his thoughts around the session: TK08 - Tony Karrer and Implementation of Social Learning.

eLearing 2.0 - Great Response and Some Feedback

Tony Karrer

Most of the audience wasn't familiar with social bookmarking. Applications I did something along these lines (two presentations) at ASTD TechKnowledge 2007, but many people came to the Applications presentation without having attended the 101 presentation. I did my eLearning 2.0 presentation at ASTD 2007. There were over 200 people and it was standing room only. Someone told me that lots of folks couldn't get in. Lots of good energy in the room.

Personal Publishing - Balance of Blog vs. PPT+Audio – Help Needed

Tony Karrer

And this is especially timely for me, since I'm going to be making choices around it as I begin to pull together content for ASTD TechKnowledge and my blog on the topic of blogging and social bookmarking I received a comment from Jesse Ezell that brings up an issue that I've been grappling with and I would love to get some input (comments) from everyone who reads this blog.

Tony Karrer

Last week I presented a session at ASTD TechKnowledge entitled eLearning 2.0 - Applications and Implications. IBM I only briefly mentioned how other organizations are adopting these tools in a big way - The Wall Street Journal - June 18 2007 - social networking at IBM 26,000 registered blogs.
