WAV file was 687 MB, while the *.MP3 In the meantime, I sent a bug report to Adobe, which they followed-up the next morning saying that some sound cards have trouble with the audio dll file and provided this fix: Close Captivate 4 if it is open. Thus, if you just want to insert a quick sound byte, use Captivate, but if you really want to tweak the sound, use Soundbooth or another audio editor

  The Save dialog box will open where you can select from either  WAV or  MP3. While MP3 files are not as high quality as WAV files, the smaller size of a typical MP3 will more than make up for what you might lose in sound quality. You can right-click any sound file you see in the Library's Audio folder and choose  Export. You'll have the same export options (WAV and MP3) as those found when using the Podcast option.

I cleaned up the audio by boosting the sound a bit and speeding it slightly up. So I saved it to a WAV file, which was quite large, and then saved that as an MP3 file which worked quite well -- a small compact file plus it kept both tracks. Also, I think they did a slightly better job on Paul's voice in that it sounds slightly more natural, how about you?
