TCC08: Transitioning from WebCT to Sakai

Experiencing eLearning

I Need Somebody: Faculty Perspectives on Transitioning from WebCT to a Sakai-based Learning Management System,&# by Ariana Eichelberger, Educational Technology, University of Hawaii at Manoa. Comfortable with WebCT and hesitant to switch. They are currently in transition, but WebCT will be going away soon. Questions: She mentioned how Sakai can be changed when the universities want it to happen rather than when WebCT decides it will happen.

TCC08: Extreme Makeover: Course Edition

Experiencing eLearning

This is all stuff we’re already working on with PLS courses–nice to see that we’re on the right track. Visual test with maps–created in WebCT, can be done elsewhere too. This is another liveblogged post from the TCC 2008 conference. The presenter is Robin Bartoletti , Texas Women’s University, Denton, Texas , USA. She does course redesigns–has done over 80 of them. Goal is to make courses easier to look at and navigate. Mix it up.

Keeping Up - April's Big Question

eLearning Cyclops

When I do find interesting tools I will keep track of them using my Delicious account. April's Big Question from Learning Circuits is "How to Keep up?" This is in reference the immense and rapidly expanding technology tools. It is tough to stay on top of all the emerging tools. However, being involved in an e-learning community is a big help. For me it is a blog community and following many experts on Twitter.

Is there anything Moodle can't do?

Clive on Learning

My question is, what am I not getting that I would with Blackboard, WebCT, FirstClass and other VLEs? Over the past two months I've been working extensively with the open source virtual learning environment (VLE) Moodle. I've been using it in three ways: To provide support for a predominantly classroom-based course (pre and post course activities, forums, wiki, etc.). To support a predominantly online course in the usual way.

Top 50 LMS Report for 2016 – What you need to know (criteria, approach, and yeah some vendors)

eLearning 24-7

Total number of vendors that do (out of 690 that I now track), less than 15. That is like calling Blackboard, WebCT, since they bought them more than 15 years ago. Couple of clean up items for those keeping track. It’s nearly here. In a little over two months, my 2016 Top 50 LMS Report will be available for purchase. This post isn’t so much a “buy, buy”, rather it is to give insight into the process, considerations, and factors. Not everyone gets in.

Online Learning in Education

Popular ones included Lotus Notes, Blackboard and WebCT. This is a new area that I will be tracking and monitoring. In 1993, Jones International made its debut on the internet. The first 100% online university. In 1999, Jones International became the first online university in the U.S. to be accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
