E-Learning conferences in Australia in 2017

Sydney is evidently the place to be for e-learning pro’s who are keen to develop their knowledge and skills this year. Even EduTECH, the darling of Brisbane’s educational technology scene, is travelling south for the winter.

Having said that, there are opportunities elsewhere, and more will emerge as time marches on. The following list of conferences is an organic one, so keep an eye on it as the year progresses.

If you are after workshops, webinars, or other PD offerings that don’t quite fit the definition of “conference”, may I refer you to the Australian Institute of Training and Development. You might also be interested in The eLearning eXperts’ eLearning Events Calendar.

  1. Wow, what a comprehensive list. Thanks so much for this Ryan!! You just saved me hours of researching!

  2. Keep an eye on this list, Cath, as I’m sure more Melbourne-based events will appear.

Having said that, don’t let me stop you from going to DevLearn!

  3. Hey Ryan – thanks for your continued yearly roundup (& ongoing update) of the Aus conference circuit, a valuable collection of info, and there look to be some interestimg events on the list that look worthwhile.
There are also a couple of Ark Goup events (not Sydney based!) focused on the public sector that you could add:
Creative tools for engagment (Gamification) in the public sector (Canberra)
    https://www.arkgroupaustralia.com.au/events/gamificationpublicsector/

Knowledge Management (Canberra and Melbourne) http://www.arkgroupaustralia.com.au/events/the-wheels-of-knowledge-management/ http://www.arkgroupaustralia.com.au

    Cheers (and see you soon…)

  4. Hi Ryan

I came across the online and eLearning summit on 20-21st June in Sydney. One to add to the expanding list of events.

    Trent

  5. Bloom Learning is bringing eLearnz eLab to Sydney in August 2017. Can we please add that to the list, the dates are 8th & 9th August. We are just starting to put it together now, here’s the NZ website so you can read about eLab in Auckland last year http://www.elearnz.co.nz – it’s a great opportunity to come along, network and keep up to date with the latest learning tools.

  6. Thanks for the request Deepak, but I think that would be best done by someone in India. I suggest asking Ravi Pratap Singh, Gautam Ghosh or Amit Garg.

  7. Thanks for mentioning our calendar Ryan! We are just about ready to launch :)

  8. Hey Ryan,

There’s another event called “Online & E-Learning Summit”.

The link for it is: http://www.onlineandelearning.com.au/

Kindly add it to the list, its the only summit to have both corporates and universities under one roof.

It will run from 20-22nd June in Sydney this year.

    Regards,
    Vishal

  9. Cheers Ant.

In terms of sheer numbers, EduTECH would easily be the biggest, though most of the attendees would be from the K12 sector.

Regarding workplace learning specifically, the AITD National Conference is a key one.

  10. Hi Ryan, thanks for compiling this list! I really appreciate your work. Is it possible to add The Social Learning Conference (www.sociallearningconference.com) that will be happening on the 27th -28th November 2017 in Sydney to the list? Thanks!

  11. Dear Ryan, letting you know we have a date for Moodleposium this year — except it’s got a new name, it’s now EdTechPosium (https://edtechposium.net.au/) and it’s on 30-31 October 2017 at UNSW/ADFA in Canberra.
Why the change of name? The conference is evolving to cover all the different areas of educational technology in tertiary and other education, and Canberra institutions are no longer monolithically Moodle (that would have been a good conference name, too.) But we hope it will continue to be just as informative and just as welcoming and fun.
    Best wishes to you!
