I am beyond frustrated at this point – anyone who can help, I would appreciate it. I have been working on a project, saving as I go, adding voice to text and almost done, and the system freezes and then says it isn’t responding and not only that, but when I am able to open it back up, everything is gone – nothing saves and I have to start all over.

If this was a question instead of a discussion, sighng….

May suggest that you turn on Backup ASAP (Preferences)? And use CTRL-S regularly – tip that is valid for all applications to save intermediately.
Which version do you use? If you are on Win do you Run as Administrator? Check if the paths in Preferences point to your system, not to a networked drive. Clear the cache regularly (Preferences). If this is not helping, you try to Clean the Preferences: close Captivate, look in the installation folder for a subfolder ‘Utils’ and run the CleanPreferences…. file appropriate for your OS.
