The premise that an LXP, for example, does so much more than an LMS is 100% untrue. LXPs offer assigned learning. They, thus are not learner-centric, the moment the client decides to go assigned learning. Regardless, the number of 100% true LXPs, as they were defined, is minimal in the entire industry of learning systems.

If you have seen a learning system, any system, at a trade show, such as LTUK, or ATD (coming up), or on the web, or in your dreams, you start to notice a retread. There are systems that do not follow this path, at least UI/UX wise, but the pitch, spin, reason why, and blah blah blah, is redundant. Bite-sized learning.

From an online standpoint, performance management has always been an outlier, err outside the domain of learning systems. After all, it never focused or keyed in on learning, it keyed in on other areas. If you wanted performance management, you purchased a PM system (I will use PM going forward to mean performance management).
