For the past month, I have been conducting a survey on learning platforms and specifically learning management systems. . The data shows that what many vendors assume end users want is far from accurate. Too many vendors are focusing on talent/performance management as the next feature/component in their systems.

I can honestly count on my two hands the number of LMS vendors that were present – If you can’t get land a chunk of these folks to attend a “pure” e-learning show, something is wrong here – especially when it is VEGAS the fun capital of EARTH or nearby Mars. HTML5 is coming in 2015.

Super potential, the show has always been ILT (which is still extremely popular in the UK), but there were LMS vendors there and a couple of e-learning, m-learning tools. I know a few vendors who had multiple meetings each day with potential clients – and the ones I am referring to where LMS vendors.

Estimate 55% e-learning related content, including e-learning vendors and ILT vendors who added a “virtual training” component as part of their offerings. To me, many more LMS vendors than in the past, especially some newbies I’ve never seen attend the show.
