To solve this problem, in 1999 the government tasked a small research laboratory, ADL, to “develop common specifications and standards for e-learning.” SCORM versus AICC. AICC sends HTTP messages to your LMS, while SCORM communicates with JavaScript.

More than that is most often not expected and can cause you integration problems. AICC goes after the same thing as what I've described above for SCORM (tracking under an LMS). There are a bunch of other standards by ADL (who is responsible for SCORM ), IMS , IEEE LTSC including CORDRAâ„¢ , LOM , Meta-data , etc.
