While working on rapid authored courses (courses authored using rapid authoring tools), I often encounter the decision point of whether to use freeform rapid authoring tools or the traditional template-based tools. First, let’s look at template-based tools. Both have their own pros and cons.

I’ve used a bunch of desktop authoring tools – Lectora, Dreamweaver, Authorware, Captivate, and Articulate to name a few. I haven’t really used a lot of web-based authoring tools though. I was surprised to learn that the tool is FREE as an SaaS solution. Not my best work : ). Seriously.).
