Application Training Programs: What's the Big Deal?

Why should training for that product be designed, built and marketed in one day? Same with software systems that take years to develop and then they want training created and delivered in a week.? Currently, I am in the middle of creating a simulation-based training program for certain applications for a well-known organization.
