The moment I saw how many of my contemporaries were using Dreamweaver Templates to build courses, I knew the end for the complex tools were coming. Advanced – Captivate and Lectora. Then it happened.

The majority of people creating the courses used authoring tools, such as Authorware (difficult to learn, but robust), Dazzler Max (I used it, learning curve though), Lectora (difficult to learn) and many others that existed then. The first inkling of RCATs was a product called Dreamweaver, which was designed for web site design.
