There are a couple of caveats to pay attention to: If you use any special coding, flash, video, or widgets with your authoring tool, you can introduce browser compatibility issues. If you do have a browser compatibility problem, then you are often reliant on the tool vendor to fix it.

When I went back to the product marketing team with the request for budget to re-engage the vendor, they were less than enthusiastic. If your company uses an LMS for learning content, ask the vendor if they have authoring software as well.
