The majority of people creating the courses used authoring tools, such as Authorware (difficult to learn, but robust), Dazzler Max (I used it, learning curve though), Lectora (difficult to learn) and many others that existed then. Everyone I knew, followed the ADDIE approach. Not as many as today mind you.

How many of you, are familiar with terms such as ADDIE? Anyone who used Authorware can attest to that. Many authoring tools in learning systems use the term “slides” And there are plenty of authoring tools, desktop and SaaS, old and super new, who use the term “slides” Slides is not a course design term.
