There are currently three main publishing standards in the eLearning world: SCORM, AICC, and Tin Can API. (A Traditional SCORM content is Flash-based, which may cause issues on new platforms and mobile devices. Ability to track diverse learning scenarios, be it games, simulations or any type of blended learning.

Is there a preference or reason for choosing xAPI, AICC, SCORM over the other? xAPI, AICC, and SCORM are all communication protocols about how learning events talk to tracking systems. AICC was the first standard, developed specifically for the aviation industry when there were no standards. All are still in use today.

These vendors, I believe will consist of: Vendors who offer an authoring tool or game sim and will develop additional product lines tied to Augmented Reality. Those that enter this space will truly be cutting edge and thus adoption will be slow. HTML5 support – sorry Flash fans . Claro enables true HTML5 output.
