The first official eLearning content standard, AICC was developed by the Aviation Industry CBT Committee in 1993 as a CD-ROM based standard. Originally used to compress image files, nowadays it’s best known for moving images which are a lightweight alternative to video. Online web support was added to the specification in 1998.
