These have been my reference manuals while learning new versions of Captivate. You don’t need to be a pro at Photoshop, but you need to know how to crop images and do some basic editing. I use the open source tool Audacity for audio editing. You can ask questions in the Adobe Captivate forum. Storyline Resources.

Photoshop is, of course, the undisputed king for this kind of work, but it might not be your best choice for several reasons. But the real reason is that unless you’re doing heavy photo and design work, Photoshop is probably overkill for your humble content editing needs (mainly cropping, resizing, making small adjustments, etc).

The ability to record audio in real time or post time makes a lot of sense and eliminates the need for using Audacity (albeit it is a wonderful and free product). There is something wrong when a free and open source product like Audacity can do it, yet a product that costs hundreds of dollars cannot. Valuable Features – New.

Another repeat, Videvo has a small library of free music (59 tracks) and sound effects (440 clips), again mixed in with a lot of subscription-only tracks. Audacity (Audio editing).
