I’ll just say it right now, the industry as a whole isn’t doing much. Yes there are vendors doing some new stuff, okay many, but a few items are not new, rather they have been around for a long time. – This means that multiple people can work at the same time on the same course and same page – it is really an awesome feature, especially with SaaS authoring tools. It should exist in every authoring tool. . . .

I can see how theorists might argue that reading text aloud to the learner addresses multiple "learning styles," but the real-world experience is one of frustration: you want to read ahead but you cant because the narrator reads more slowly than you do. Its also a bad idea if you believe (as I do) that learners should be in control as much as possible.
