A colleague of mine attended a session this past week at ATD that covered LMS, LXP and LCMS (why LCMS was included? These two vendors are EdCast and Degreed. Getting back to being unaware, I find the same issue with a few vendors in the learning system space who are really LXPs, but have no idea. Both of which are LXPs.

I will say that I’m not a fan of the analytics angle, because it opens up the approach that you could use the system in a somewhat manner of an LCMS or mini LMS (many SaaS authoring tools follow that path – and I dislike that too). Course categories include business skills, compliance, certifications, industry-specific.
