Every LMS tried to be all things to all types of customers in all industries. A steady flurry of acquisitions disrupted customers’ lives but never the market as a whole. Innovation was stagnant and most vendor effort was invested in stealing customers from one another. SAP acquired SuccessFactors who had acquired Plateau.

Most of the time (as is the case with Oracle) these are different products. I know the folks from CornerStone and their product does some really interesting things. Over the past few years, they've been able to fend of Oracle, PeopleSoft and SAP through superior products. The dissatisfaction numbers are high in general.
