Having said that, it wasn’t my intention to offend anyone by what I wrote but I had such high expectations for Captivate 6 and was dissapointed, especially because of what Adobe as a company showed the world with their launch of the Creative Suite 6 and the Creative Cloud. True mLearning a la Dreamweaver CS6. That’s it.

It’s not even this particular version that disappoints me; it’s the overall lack of vision that Adobe has clearly shown in this release. Here we are 12 months later and Adobe India releases a new version of Captivate just in time for the mLearnCon conference. Fast Forward One Year Later.

It has now been 6 months since I left Adobe and this is the first version of Captivate that I get to explore from the outside. I don’t mean Adobe as a company, clearly the Dreamweaver, Shadow, inDesign and the Edge teams do, I’m talking about how the Adobe Captivate team thinks about Mobile and Mobile Learning.

As the evolution of e-learning continues, the rapid content authoring tools (RCAT) market follows suit. Eventually, Macromedia Dreamweaver came into the picture. LMS vendor does not have to re-build the wheel, they cut development time and cost and any updates, new versions, etc. That has changed. This is now.
