These should be considered standards for vendors in this space in 2011 or at least those who want a competitive edge.

I have seen continued interest and downloads for open source AR tool kits. GestureTek develops motion control for tablets, e-readers, smartphones and televisions. Expect a few commercial vendors to jump into the augmented reality space for e-learning. Actually it already has with some end users.

The latter is slowly gaining speed, which is an advantage to LMS vendors who have a CAT in their own product – which is SCORM,PENS/IMS compliant. Over 98% of the LMS/LCMS/learning platform have at least one compliance standard, so why use a RCAT that doesn’t? A couple of vendors are offering this as a feature.

Open Source Free Content Authoring Tools. It isn’t, but there are a few vendors starting to add it to their interoperability standards and yes a few LMS vendors too. PENS was created in 2005 by AICC as a new interoperability standard. E-Learning 24/7. Adobe Captivate. Rapid Intake.
