Take the time to create your own images if your budget allows, or really search through stock photo sites to find the best image.

Use pictures to tell a story. Don’t use pictures as mere decoration or ornamental elements. Ask yourself if adding a specific picture or graphic serves this purpose  if it doesn’t, leave it out. The internet is not an stock image library. File size also matters.

The more visual information on the screen, the larger the file size. And if the file is too large, it’ll take too long to download and ruin the effect and experience. Solid backgrounds are good because you don’t get that blocky color striping that you get with pictures. Stick with fewer colors.
