What’s been a barrier are inconsistent implementations of web standards, like Microsoft’s non-standard versions of HTML for browsers and Java. HTTP standardization has been good for the web, where it’s been implemented properly! The source of the standard may be by committee, or by the originator.

What we have are multiple channels ( Virtual World News , Massively ), including official ones from River Runs Red and Linden Lab , bringing us the news that Immersive Workspaces 2.0 I mean honestly, we still have people putting a "Next" button in the lower right-hand corner of page-turning HTML courses and now we want to go 3D?
