I can safely say that I have gotten nothing out of the site. So, yes, you have to set up policies and alert people just like you do around any form of electronic communication (email, IM). Even Thomas Davenport, author of Thinking for a Living, has blasted these tools: blogs have detracted from productivity, not increased it.
