Experience shows that, for large projects involving teams of specialists (project managers, instructional designers, graphics people, subject experts, testers, etc.), On the other hand you have to purchase a copy for every computer that the package is installed on, manage all your own assets, and upload the finished product when it's done.

The version you want is the Pro version which comes with Corel Paint Shop Pro, Qarbon Viewlet builder. This product is 100% geared towards e-learning developers or instructional designers who have at a minimum moderate tech skills. Don’t be discourged by their web site – it isn’t ideal, but the product is cool.

Firstly, I've been doing some more work on the script for The 30-minute masters which, if you remember, aims to teach the essentials of instructional design to subject matter experts in no more than 30 minutes. Two situations recently have got me thinking about e-learning authoring tools.

Under less than ideal conditions, the eLearning developer may have to chase down experts across the country, wait weeks or months for authoritative feedback, deal with conflicting (and possibly unresolvable) opinions and satisfy conflicting aesthetics and instructional philosophies concerning the finished design.
