Let’s face it – RFI/RFP documents sent over to learning system vendors are massive tomes that confuse, challenge and even baffle some vendors. Then you have RFP/RFIs that lack substance. The fact of the matter is nobody loves creating RFP/RFIs. Okay, one version does. They can be 25 pages.

Think about the following: If people are going to access internally (at your company) what version of browser software do you have? What version of Office are you using. What version of Flash are you using?

Or GPT4 (expensive token-wise) or the next version of GPT. You can barely read the information – no worry, it is data visualization if your idea of data visualization is 2000 or Excel 1996. Maybe today it is ChatGPT (cheaper token-wise). Pie charts? Bar Graphs? Do I need to do this? Thus I could sit by and do nothing.

If you are a vendor you are likely to see it too often and it appears when the “potential customer” sends you a RFP without ever talking to you prior to. . Or they send the RFP after a discussion, but before seeing the product. Nowadays it is easy to just send off that RFP without doing any due diligence.

New System X is announced that it is coming out and is made by a well-known brand or a brand that you hear is great, didn’t like the first time around, but this is a new version, and just perhaps, perhaps it is a better fit. Not seeing the system beforehand, leads many times to this idea of an extensive RFP submission.

If you like, then RFP it. Not Each of us has different experiences in the industry (mine – corporate wise has been since 2000), my experiences also included running training in numerous companies and verticals which always included e-learning, and thus a learning system involved. Each Not the other way around.

But then many people went and read the 2000 page SCORM spec and said, nah, I’m out. Has evolved in incorporating at the time later versions of scorn as well as other standards like.
