This year we will focus on the top ten authoring tools for 2013. For each authoring ranking, a brief true ghost story, then the vendor and why it was selected. One of the trends I forsee in 2014 is an increase in the number of authoring tools enabling multilingual while creating a course. Text to Speech – awesome!

Because the industry as a whole is a lemming, I expect more vendors to come on board. In just the past month, I have seen quite a few vendors add this capability in their product – and for the most part they are all RCAT products. Well some vendors have more than 15 come with their product. HTML5 output. Not anymore.

Equation tool – I’ve seen more vendors add this thing – and unless you are in education I can’t see why you would use it. Text to speech – Very nice – everyone should offer this feature. Customized branding – another trend in the space and should be universal in the market.
