The ongoing work of learning standards

Litmos

With the advent of Flash, many authoring tools started creating output that could be played by the Flash player, which meant you didn’t need special software to use the courses (if your IT org would support you having it). The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) initiative of the Department of Defense finally had enough.

Real (e)Learning Heroes

Clark Quinn

The initial learning technology standards came out from the AICC. Several other initiatives include IEEE (which is pretty much the US based effort on electric and electronic technology standards to the international stage), and the IMS efforts from academia. Other initiatives include xAPI, sponsored by ADL to address gaps in SCORM.

AICC and SCORM Compliance: The Benefits for Your e-Learning

Trivantis

The Benefits of Making Your e-Learning AICC and SCORM Compliant . You had to use that vendor’s tools to create e-Learning that worked with that LMS, or your content wouldn’t play. To solve this problem, in 1999 the government tasked a small research laboratory, ADL, to “develop common specifications and standards for e-learning.”

Day 5: xAPI and more – what next for SCORM?

LearnUpon

eLearning past: AICC. On day one of our series, we learned that AICC (Aviation Industry Computer-Based-Training Committee) can be considered the first eLearning standard, used to track how learners progress through course content. That’s also evident from the fact that the AICC specification hasn’t been updated in over ten years.

LTI is highly used in academia and higher education, so if you’re creating content or platforms in that space, we would highly recommend you support it. Q&A - eLearning Standards Especially SCORM

Tony Karrer

But, I'm going to try to make a practice of creating blog posts around some of the questions. AICC goes after the same thing as what I've described above for SCORM (tracking under an LMS). There are a bunch of other standards by ADL (who is responsible for SCORM ), IMS , IEEE LTSC including CORDRAâ„¢ , LOM , Meta-data , etc.

The Building Blocks of a Successful e-Training Program

ICS Learning

Once the big picture is in focus, it is time to create the implementation strategy and plan. The next step is to design the instruction necessary to accomplish the teaching objectives and create an assessment structure to assure that the objectives have been met.
