On October 5 th , 2017, the Department of Defense announced that its eLearning curricula would adhere to xAPI standards rather than the more traditional SCORM standards of the eLearning industry. I’m not going to delve deeply into the advantages and disadvantages of xAPI in this blog post.

Art is a member of the ADL CMI-5 committee , and is an expert on both xAPI and CMI-5. xAPI is murky for a lot of folks, and the responses shared were extremely helpful in learning more about the topic. As in the case with any session laced event, some people found that speaker X went off task or speaker C was horrific. On the expo side, and I know ASTD Events are going to disagree with me (err, they already have via Linkedin), I wasn’t overly impressed on the number of vendors’ booths. But overall, feedback was a plus.
