Traditional vendors are largely adopting at the SCORM parity level and using Tin Can as a better way to track formal training programs. I think we mostly know how to track informal learning with Tin Can now, but there is still a long way to go in making useful information out of all that data. Tracking should be opt-in when possible.

Tin Can API is a new and evolving learning technology specification (from ADL – the SCORM people).
