SCORM won the hearts of L&D folk everywhere, when it was invented by the ADL in 2000. Before SCORM the eLearning world was a jumble of different system specifications that just couldn’t communicate or work together. This meant when your company changed LMS all that old online training you loved didn’t work anymore!

If the manifest file isn’t located in the root of the zip, the course isn’t a valid SCORM content package at all and you will likely run into issues importing it to your LMS. I’m hopeful that more will join in (as they are doing on my new LMS directory – coming soon). To give you an example, the free version is ADL SCORM 2004 certified (many commercial paid ones are not). Identifies the best of the best and now identifies vendors who offer a reader discount when you purchase their product.

You can use either your own 3rd party content authoring tool and upload it into the “Cloud&# and then wherever you are, output either to your LMS, or onto Moodle or even WordPress (they have a plug in for that) OR place the course in Facebook or nearly any solution that accepts APIs. LMS, web, CD, etc., ADL SCORM 2004 CERTIFIED.
