The idea of rapid content authoring, was non-existent. The dominating authoring tool by far, was Authorware. The idea of a rapid content authoring tool, whereas anyone could build a course quickly was appalling to everyone who built courses. Other course authoring tools started to appear right after Authorware.

When looking at the state of the authoring tool space, two words come to mind. And for the entire rapid content authoring tool space, I have to ask – Why? The point is that an authoring tool should not just go along, but go beyond. PowerPoint is presentation software. Bewilderment and Confusion. But I digress.

Rapid content authoring tools took off because of the PPT premise, but just because you could do it, doesn’t mean you should, and here is where these tools and others failed. What used to take six months, with storyboards, actual text to design (i.e. Sure, the storyboards were out. That was my security blanket.

Tools Used : New age authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Lectora Inspire, iSpring, Adobe Captivate, and Claro make it easy to develop such interactive courses with less turnaround time. They need to be edited and used based on a storyboard. Tools Used : Live videos can be captured using webcam, smartphone or tablet.
