Shelly Blake-Plock announced last night via LinkedIn that he would be leading a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for IEEE LTSC (Learning Technologies Standards Committee). Anything that was a “MUST” is now referred to as a “SHALL.” The cmi5 working group is moving the specification toward becoming an IEEE standard that will reference xAPI 2.0 As these efforts continue, likely so will standards implementations, so it’s a good idea to track the developments of the IEEE LTSC group.

In 2003, the eLearning startup I worked for shuttered its doors as our customers moved to adopt SCORM, and we had no idea how to do that. ADL, IEEE and many people and businesses talking about this technology call it xAPI. Right now, “Tin Can” refers to xAPI. First off, Craig, thanks for having me. They are one and the same.
