Some vendors won’t use SCORM because it takes time to add and implement it. SCORM’s premise, not what it can or cannot do, was its huge premise of interoperability—far more so than AICC. In the late 80s, AICC, the predecessor to SCORM, was born. Many vendors mention they have SCORM. It stuck at 1.2

What about AICC? Unless you purchased a tool that is only AICC compliant, which in that case, time to ditch it and get another one. If you purchased an AICC only, then you have to find a system that is AICC compliant. It can be SCORM too, but the AICC is the key. . SCORM is backward compatible, not forward. .

How many of you have seen vendors respond to your questions? A: Virtually every LMS vendor out there in the marketplace provides these features. Congrats, you are probably looking at less than 10 (based on my LMS directory which contains 475 vendors). Smart App for TV – One LMS vendor. SCORM/AICC/PENS/IMS.

When they hit stride, other vendors take notice and soon, the lemming revolution begins. Accepts any courses built in any content authoring tools that are SCORM & AICC compliant – so you can upload and sell your courses that you built in Articulate, Captivate, even open source authoring tools (but they must be standards compliant).

The first official eLearning content standard, AICC was developed by the Aviation Industry CBT Committee in 1993 as a CD-ROM based standard. A predecessor to SCORM, AICC was difficult to work with and many steps were required to get content in the format running in a learning management system (LMS). Learning Portal.
