Because of so many segments these days, calling everyone an LMS is no longer accurate. The biggest segment is LMS. Then there are LXPs, again some bolting from the name, and most adding more and more LMS functionality, Learning Platform is another. I personally see these as hot in 2021.

A vendor was not required to be in my learning system search engine, FindAnLMS to be considered. But, you can search Top 50, Top 20, Top 10 (as a filter) and you will see those systems that slide under those groupings. Then you can buy ServiceNow LMS. How many years the vendor has been out, not a factor.

Again, if you are buying a system for an association, and want to buy a system that targets an employee audience, you can. Cornerstone CBX $$$ – Okay, on their web site it is listed as Cornerstone LMS. The salespeople call it CBX, and seem to get perturbed when you refer to it as Cornerstone LMS. Docebo Learn is the LMS.

It’s a small detail, but you don’t want viewers to have to guess whether the video is associated with your or not. Is it going to be accessed through a Learning Management System (LMS) ? If you’re using an LMS, you’ll want to know what video formats your LMS supports. Is it a title slide or animation?

The majority of vendors in the industry slide into the $$ to $$$ area. Ditto with HR, Training and yes – marketing, which there are plenty of systems that slide over there – as i.e. Marketing oversees the system. I think it can work with customer education/partner training if you launch it right, and associations too.

This post covers what you SHOULD NOT DO when buying any type of learning system, regardless if it is an LXP, LMS, Learning Platform, SEP, DLP or even any type of talent or performance management system (for the folks who are not looking at learning, but are looking at PM or TM). Leverage that. This is a very bad idea.
