Last week, while justifying Apple’s refusal to allow Flash player on iPhone/iPad, Steve Jobs wrote– “ New open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too) ”. More specifically- Is it ready to compete with Flash for eLearning Development? In fact I believe it may not replace Flash at all.

I was recently asked what video format to use and particularly about the differences between the Flash Video Format (FLV) and Windows Media - WMV Format. In The Rise of Flash Video - Tom Green tells us: This is not to say QuickTime and Windows Media are dead technologies. Flash files are very consistent in their playback.

If you do not have or use IE, you can download a desktop version to build, sort of defeats the purpose of SaaS. The “Files&# area contains all the images, video, audio, etc., Video – flv only. Flash with text. All the language options worked as stated, but French showed English (I surmise a bug).

AUDIO RECORDING AND EDITING. Audacity is an audio recording and editing application with a lot of the features you find in commercial products. It works on all platforms and is probably the most popular free audio program around. Primo PDF has a free and paid version. It doesn’t have video or audio chat, though.

The latest version, Articulate ’09, has some interesting new features like Single-slide Preview, FLV Support, Easy Audio Editor, and Articulate Branding Removed. Missing lines in graphs - The PPT graphs sometimes don’t convert properly to Flash, leading to missing lines.
