The two gorillas in the elearning room are Articulate and Captivate – both are tools that create animated, sequenced learning objects. If you’re starting from scratch, you can start with PowerPoint presentations and use these tools to create interactive objects, add audio and export to the SCORM standard.

These were not characters that rarely moved, rather you could position them all over the screen, place them in the background and even record audio as part of the output. One such vendor is Rapid Intake. However, they cannot be in the same page, lesson, learning object at the same time. FT’s Aura product.

Rapid Intake: Unison. Comes with a screen capture tool, spell checker (many RCATs do not), Slide audio recording & editing. Innovation is listed next to the product. The product is not necessarily the ultimate in RCAT, but they are solid at the minimum and should be at least looked at, before making any decision. SAAS based.
