In response to the demand for more accessible authoring tools, Authorware was born. Using Authorware , learning professionals could create learning programs with hyper-simplistic designs, primarily through dragging and dropping icons. So, simplicity was there for the author, but at the cost of effective learner engagement.

A few highlights: The demo I saw was running on a Mac, so that's a plus for me. Michael was, of course, the creator of Authorware, a highly powerful tool from the CD-ROM era, which Adobe eventually gave up on after they inherited it from Macromedia. In effect, to give us back what we had with tools in the 1980s and 90s.

Sure, you can use the extensive list of tools on the market, but for those who want real power and complexity ala from the days of Authorware, pickings are slim. Screen recorder or screen demo – what’s up with that? Celtix - Enables you to create storyboards and scripts. It’s free. Output to HTML5. What’s COLD.

We’re warned to not rely too heavily on it for effective elearning. And that’s the case whether they built them in Authorware or PowerPoint. Here’s a demo that shows some of these ideas in action. By doing so, I save time and money and still have an opportunity to build effective elearning. Swap objects.
