I agree the technologies to create, deploy and manage HTML5-based mobile web apps will greatly improve in 2012 but I don't feel they will mature to the point they can replace all native apps – at least in most of the primary enterprise use cases for learning that’s managed and tracked. They plan on launching a version next year on smartphones. Costs and quality will vary. For vendors creating standalone apps for the masses on a variety of offerings or new product lines, costs will need to be significantly lower, otherwise it will not be successful. Costs will vary, again lower price points are needed.

When pricing an LMS, keep in mind that the number of users who will access the LMS will likely affect your licensing costs. Things like file format (Flash vs. PDF, PowerPoint vs. Spreadsheet) can make a difference in what systems are a potential fit. If so, what versions? Does the LMS support HTML5 versions of SCORM?
