Creative common (CC) and GNU licenses. Creative Commons is an organization which supports free and open content. It enables a creator (of images, courses, music, video’s) to get registered as the owner/creator of the resource but at the same time grants other people the right to use this resource.

A few years ago I worked for an organization that required custom designed eLearning but didn’t have a budget for stock photography, background music, or video. Music can be a challenge but there are many resources that offer free music under a creative commons license. Also, I found some great resources for stock photography.

Weird - after posting, I just saw a post in my blog reader from HeyJude - Find free images online - my list! 10 Places to Find Free Image FlickrCC - Bigfoto.com offers pictures from around the world, including America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and Pacific. You do not even have to credit the images. Basic but still valuable.
