While there are a couple of vendors out there who have incorporated e-mail that can go to outside to people, rather than just within the learning management product, the overall space isn’t doing it. To hold photos, images, media files – eventually moved to word docs. Online Storage i.e online hard drives.

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. It’s on the web in their safe and secure LMS and in their locker/desk. E-Learning 24/7. Tablets there.tablets there.tablets everywhere. Yes, I love consumer slate tablets. Yes, I own one.

The downside to training management products is the inability to upload any other 3rd party authoring tool or courses from an off the shelf vendor. Yeah, you can upload word docs, PPT, etc. SaaS eliminates the need for IT on your side, less headaches and thus the responsibility of any issues being handled by the vendor.

Resources – docs, video/audio files, podcasts, PPT, etc. PDF, docs, clips – nearly the same as resources – again, repetitive. Courses under subject headers – example “accounting” Courses can be online or ILT or both. You can drill down under a subject, so you have a sub-subject area. Certification.
