Dreamweaver was not created for people to build courses in, rather it was created for people to build web sites and other web related solutions. A novice could learn it and do some things quicker than Dreamweaver. Most people find this to be a really nice offering and a real competitor to Dreamweaver. Let the Slayers list begin!

We did Online Learning in the 60’s – False Narrative There were systems back in the day, where they could be run on your own server, used via a CD-ROM, via WAN or LAN, but to me, that isn’t and e-learning LMS. The LCMS Learning Content Management System. It was text, that’s it. And another day, for that story.

No matter where you are, no matter what you are – portal, learning community, LMS/LCMS (open source), group, web page with links, API integrated solution, etc. This is the WordPress.org, which requires you to have your own server on the net – hosted – example Godaddy.com, behind a firewall. SCORM Cloud.

I’ve used a bunch of desktop authoring tools – Lectora, Dreamweaver, Authorware, Captivate, and Articulate to name a few. Ability to save your courses so you don’t freak out about losing courses that exist on a server other than your own. Can also be installed on your server. Semi-complex branching.

E-Learning and all forms within are normally taken via your desktop computer and either hitting your company’s server with your browser or going to a hosted LMS vendor’s solution. Creating high-def video for your courses, or people can upload for social learning or add high-def simulations or movies. Entourage Edge.
