A greater number of people, worldwide are using SaaS then ever before, mobile products, tablets – especially the iPad – is growing at a feverish pace, people are using online storage, beyond just placing photos and media, and open source is continuing expansion. What makes Dropbox so effective? Why would I want it?

We can start to look at how people choose to learn vs. how they have been told to learn. We can then look at whether their chosen path is effective for them (perhaps they are misguided about how they learn best). Mike: Early adopters are broken into two categories, traditional e-learning vendors and new market entrants.

But, the reason I constantly bash this into e-learning vendors heads is this just DON’T GET IT. They just do not see the benefit nor value – NOW – of having their products available to be used effectively and optimized for consumer slate tablets, aka “tablets&#. Integrated e-mail.

They have become adept at incorporating flash animations, pdfs, PowerPoint presentations, audio-visual material and any number of other techniques for getting training messages across to users in effective and imaginative ways. Are they producing high-quality e-Learning? This sounds like a bit of an overstatement to me.

Theres nothing in ADDIE about learning objects or the presentation of information. Most e-Learning vendors mention ADDIE or some form thereof on their websites as if it was a real science about creating effective learning. I disagree that ADDIE is an instructional design model.
