best products that work under water (summer time) and from the e-learning prospective – the best authoring tools. 10: TechSmith Camtasia Studio – I’ve debated numerous times if a product that is more of a screen recorder with added feature sets deserves to be in an authoring tool set. and SCORM/AICC.

When people think authoring tools, three products typically come to mind. I’ve always found this product to be the top of the line for PowerPoint to Flash course builds. It is easy to use and once you learn it, easy to push out content. Engage is the only product you can edit the HTML – using a HTML Kit.

From an interaction (listed as interactivity) to a feature within the product. Because the industry as a whole is a lemming, I expect more vendors to come on board. In just the past month, I have seen quite a few vendors add this capability in their product – and for the most part they are all RCAT products.

This will become one of the biggest features in 2012 – especially with people wanting to create simulations without being an e-learning developer. Assessment/Survey/Polls – If your product doesn’t have it – you need it. I hope it does – especially with SaaS products. People want it.

From products that ranged from the latest versions of RCATs to new vendors in the space, including text to speech. . FT’s Aura product. Simply put, one vendor has over 200 Flash-based templates in their product. Another vendor I spoke with, is offering 80 templates. I was enthralled.

Vendors who added innovative features including text to speech (way to go SoftChalk), to true HTML5 support (Claro, Cm-Studio, Rapid Intake, Toolbook and sort of HTML5 output – Lectora) to image editors, SDK kits, gaming sims and Sony PSP devices. Free widgets, plug-ins and apps for customers to use with their product(s).
