I have always stated that before any call, at a minimum look at the vendor’s web site, go through the page(s) and see what you can extract. Seek additional resources before just either blasting a RFP out to everyone or picking up the phone, because you saw their name. And let’s go back to that RFP for a second.

A friend of mine, got a RFP template from a LMS vendor’s web site. I am not a fan of grabbing RFP templates off of vendor’s web sites, only because if you read them in detail you will start to realize that for some of the questions, it is really geared toward that vendor’s product. Always after.

I’m a big time fan of vendors who post their pricing on their site. Trust me, people are going to see what your competitors are doing, so the argument that we don’t want to tell you because of competition is lame, especially when there is never a problem listing your pricing on a RFP. One Other Note.
