We could see the branches of all the trees in the woods surrounding the house whipping horizontally although the tree trunks were nearly invisible for the torrents of rain. We emerged into a leaf- and branch-bestrewn neighborhood after the storm had passed. Our fence was crushed by a fallen tree although our house and shed were spared.
