It has received a lot of attention in the past from the thought leaders in the realm of learning and the role of communities in personal as well as organizational learning. No one can see the engrossed look on my face when I read discussion threads in the Learning and Skills group. When does lurking change to participation?

Some notes: Polls: Most attending work in L&D with some HR, IT, and learning services providers. Current learning delivery channels primarily ILT classroom and ILT online as well as a fair amount of self-paced e-learning. Other notes: Definition of social media vary among attendees (~160). Nearly everyone dispersed.
