Lots of Templates – No longer satisfied with ten, now many vendors are offering extensive list of templates. Use of PowerPoint in rapid content authoring tools – this has been a big irritant of mine, since the days when PPT first made its appearance in rapid content authoring tools. – Totally respect that.

On the other hand, they may use templates, I mean playing “glossary” or “jeopardy” is so awesome – I could play for at least 30 seconds. . Yeah, I left out SCORM, SCORM 1.2, The same applies to those who have created e-learning games. . Here is the term that is kicking folks in the face.

Themes and customized templates- Many have it including the ability to do a custom skin of your own colors and branding. While I am thrilled to see more templates, what I am not thrilled about is the number of templates. Some are really lame and I would be unimpressed if I was a learner taking a course with that template.

Templates – growing at quick clip. PowerPoint – Ability to integrate or use PPT in your courses. Some vendors push heavily on PPT, implying that a great WBT is really a PPT converted to Flash. proprietary, along with SCORM, etc., Perhaps they are unaware of the RCAT space as well. It isn’t.

PowerPoint still reigns – If you are a course purist, the idea that PPT should be seen as an authoring tool should make you grumble with disgust. . Yes, you can use it for many different things, and yes, Microsoft has an add-on that turns PPT into something similar to Adobe Presenter. Output to HTML5. Works with any LMS .

Feature sets – they have to be more than PPT to Flash or add an audio clip and video clip to the course. I loved that the background templates can match with a specific scenario, such as the healthcare one I saw with their avatars. Works across multiple platforms, SCORM, learning object generator and more.

In the authoring tool world: PowerPoint focused authoring tool, Basically you know PPT, love it and want the ability to build within it and then convert your PPT to a Course. In the AT world, knowing whether your AT accepts your specific compliance standard (SCORM, SCORM 1.2/2004, condo, house, etc.
