For objective comparative analyses there are, of course, services like those offered by Brandon-Hall or the eLearning Guild. I have to own up that I was myself involved in the design of such a tool about five years ago for the Training Foundation, at first called Lobster (for creating learning objects, right), but later Acce-lerator.
